Durham's elected officials are under a lot of pressure to develop land and grow the tax base. New homes attract new residents; new offices attract new businesses. Growth attracts more growth.
Durham's citizens want growth too, but we also want to protect our neighborhoods from unattractive design, urban sprawl, loss of trees, overcrowded schools, and increased traffic.
