Who's Running?
Three City Council seats are to be filled in the November 2005 election. Mr Clement, Mr Best, Ms Cole-McFadden, and Mayor Bell are up for re-election.
The Board of Elections lists candidates who have filed for the various races. Filing opened on July 1 and will close at noon on Friday, August 5, 2005.

Elections In Durham City & County
The Durham County Board of Elections website has links to all kinds of information, as well as answers to frequently asked questions about elections in Durham County.
City Council
Durham City Council's seven members are elected in non-partisan races held every two years (in odd-numbered years). Their 4-year terms are staggered so that the entire Council isn't replaced at once. The next City Council election will be in November 2005.
The Mayor and three City Council members are elected at large. The other three members are elected from specific wards. See Ward Map in JPG format (big) or PDF format (enormous). All members are elected by citywide vote.
Board of County Commissioners
Partisan elections for all five Durham County Commissioners are held every four years, coinciding with presidential elections. The next Board of Commissioners election will be November 2008.
