About Our Area
Southwestern Durham is a strong community noted for its tree-lined streetscapes, attractive architecture, and green spaces. It's home to many neighborhoods including the venerable Parkwood (one of the oldest planned communities in Durham) and new neighborhoods springing up near the Streets of Southpoint mall.
I-40 and NC-54 run roughly east to west, and the area is connected to northern parts of Durham County by NC-55, Fayetteville Road, NC-751, Hope Valley Road and Garrett Road. It's convenient to RTP, RDU airport, and major highways. No wonder it's one of the fastest-growing parts of our county.
